Christian Communities Face Severe Persecution Across Three Districts in Bihar: Need Your Prayers

Dear Friend in Christ Jesus,

The ongoing persecution is making evangelism even more challenging in North India, especially in the state of Bihar, impacting three districts - Seethamrhi, Samastipur, and Chapra. Hope India Mission faces major challenges in these areas as it works towards its mission in the midst of difficult circumstances.

In Samastipur, Bihar, a dedicated servant of God, Nikesh (56) (name changed due to security reasons), has been facing severe persecution while carrying out his divine mission in various locations in Samastipur ever since he commenced his mission work back in the year 2011. Despite the challenges, the faith in his congregation remains very strong.

Major Timeline of Persecution in Samastipur:

1. 5-1-2011: A mob of 500 people tried to expel Pastor Nikesh and halt worship services, marking the start of troubles.

2. 12-2-2012: About 400 people gathered, shouting and threatening the pastor for hours with dire consequences.

3. 9-5-2012: Church leader Mr. Palu(Name changed) faced threats, leading to his absence from the church for years. Mr. Palu was asked to leave the village later. Still the persecutors are after him not allowing him to live peacefully. To survive, he is frequently  moving from location to locations with his family.

4. June 2023: Fanatics clashed with local believers, causing fear and intimidation.

Present Situation:

5-1-2024: A mob of 30 people is raiding Chaksultan village almost every day after learning that it has embraced Christianity. They are threatening villagers almost every day to renounce Christianity and make a big donation to an under-construction Hindu temple.

Despite hardships, there are 120 believers, 51 baptized individuals, 05 house churches, and one central church. Every Sunday, 40-50 individuals gather for worship in a humble shed hall.

Financial struggles persist, hindering the construction of a church building. Youths face immence challenges due to a lack of skills and due to no one is offering them jobs for embracing Christianity.

Prayer Requests:

1. The safety of the pastor and the believers.

2. God may help us to buy a piece of land and build a church in that area.

3. The youths in the church to get skill training for a better life.

4. For the safety and security of our believers there.

5. For the suffering people's faith in Christ in India.

6. 300-plus pastors are in jail in Uttar Pradesh for their safe deliverance.

   
   

PRAISE & OTHER URGENT PRAYER POINTS

Praise Points (2023)

1. God enlarged the ministry by adding and equipping 40 new workers for 40 New fields.

2. Provision of land for Patna City Church near All India Medical Institute.

3. A rented suitable hall facility for the church, with its inauguration ceremony taking place on 22nd October 2023 in Patna, Bihar, by Rev. Dr. E.A. Abraham.

4. The Odhar church building was constructed and inaugurated.

5. The extension of Sabaya (Gopalganj) Church building construction was completed and inaugurated.

6. A total of 40 Pastors received ordination both in Fatehabad, Haryana, on 31st March and on 3rd April from Archbishop Elavatta Abraham Abraham.

7. Emmanuel Mission Public School Patna received its affiliation for the first time from C.B.S.E. (Central Govenment Board)

8. Started English & Nepali worship service for the first time in Patna.

   
   

Urgent Prayer Points:

1. For Hope India Mission Schools – More admission for the next academic year that starts from March/April 2024.

2. The school is very much disturbed because of not getting efficient and committed teachers…

3. For the Pastors’ and Bishops’ retreat from 12, 13, & 14, February 2024, at Delhi.

4. Pray for this year (2024) ministry goals to be achieved.

5. Please pray for new partnerships for the ministry.

6. Please pray for Rev. Dr. E.A. Abraham’s (Director) Canada & US trip from 1st April to 17th June 2024.
